First Blood to Light Fantastic
Exiting and still unbeaten Wood Nook Farm owned Light Fantastic has kept his untarnished record intact.

Light Fantastic, a winner of all four starts in the autumn, stepped up another level with a superb win over the 1400m journey first-up.
Ridden by Craig Newitt, he stalked Weekend Hussler throughout in midfield but came inside rounding the bend.

He not only drew level to Weekend Hussler who was knuckling down on the outside but went past and reigned in Maldivian, who drew to the lead and fought on well.

Zupaone to stand at Hollylodge

Monday 28th July 2008

Zupaone by Flying Spur out of Group 1 winning mare Shizu (NZ) has been retired from racing and will start his stud career this season at Hollylodge Thoroughbreds.

Zupaone is a Group 3 winner, Listed placegetter, multiple city winner and 4th in a Group 3 as well. He was trained by John Symons who has said of him he has shown more raw ability than Bel Esprit. A very smart sprinter from 1000 to 1200m Zupaone has had his fair share of injuries and his owners have decided now is the time to move to stud.

Standing at $6,600.00 he is the cheapest son of Flying Spur to stand in Victoria. He will stand alongside Honours List $6,600.00 and Tuscanos $5,500.00. Due to the current Australian quarantine problems Jungle Pocket will not be able to shuttle to Hollylodge this season.

Hold That Tiger Does it in both Hemispheres

Friday 25th July 2008

HOLD THAT TIGER, a well performed three-quarter brother by Storm Cat to Hennessy, a source of Group 1 winners in Australia, America, Europe and Japan, looks set to emulate him in both hemispheres. This has been indicated in Australia by successes of two first crop juveniles in the past three weeks in Melbourne, namely Hull City (lost rider first time out and recorded convincing wins at Cranbourne on June 22 and at Sandown on July 9) and Tigresque (at only two starts won Cheltenham Park June 7 and at Sandown on June 25).

First Foals for Danerich

Thursday 7th August 2008

The long awaited time has finally arrived right on queue, 1:00 am on Friday 1st August at Rangal Park Stud Danerich’s first foal arrived, a striking bay colt from “ Fanfare Bubbles” followed shortly after at 4:00 am another striking beautiful bay but this time a filly from the mare “Trice Moss”.

“It gives you a wonderful feeling to see the quality of his first foals and the realization that they have everything going for them. Danerich certainly had speed and its Danehill”s speed sons that are the successful ones at stud “quoted Eric Buttler.

Danerich served 123 mares in his first season in 2007 and proved to be extremely fertile with a high libido.

Denon on fire in Europe

Friday 25th July 2008

Young Victorian shuttle sire Denon (USA) has joined the ranks of Leading First Season European Sires with his fifth individual winner in Italy at the weekend.

His record now stands at five winners and three others placed from just 13 starters, which is an outstanding result by a sire that was not expected to find such early form.

“To this stage Denon has just 15 named two year olds so he is doing a terrific job with very little fire power against his main rivals, many of whom have already had over 30, and up to 45, runners,” said Mike Becker of Independent Stallions, which stands Denon in Victoria.
