| Riva San doubles up on Group One glory |
|
Riva San backed up from last week's Queensland Oaks success to become only the fourth filly to secure the Oaks-Derby double and her trainer Peter Moody has his sights set firmly on the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
Moody wasn't at Eagle Farm as he prepared to board a flight to England where he will saddle Magnus (due to stand at Eliza Park this coming season) in next week's Kings Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, but the former Queenslander said Riva San would be headed toward the feature Cups double. Riva San is by the ill fated Any Given Sunday, who stood at Mountmellick Stud, and out of Parador Park (Euroa) based mare Best River. Best River has 3 North East based siblings to Riva San which will follow her onto the track, being a pair of Skalato's and she is currently in foal to Swettenham Stud stallion Keep The Faith (which will be a three quarter relation). |
